Royal Decree 4/2021 issues a Class I License for “Vodafone” to install and operate public mobile telecommunication services in the Sultanate.

Vodafone obtains Class I License for installing and operating public mobile telecommunication services in the Sultanate of Oman. The Royal Decree 4/2021 issued on the 5th of January 2021 makes Vodafone the third telecommunications operator in the country.

On his part, Eng. Nasser bin Salem Al Hosni, Vice Chairman of Vodafone, stated that “the Royal Decree will enrich the telecommunications and information sector in line with the country’s long-term vision, and achieve a fair and healthy competitive landscape by providing modern fifth-generation services for all citizens and residents of Oman. The presence of Vodafone in Oman will contribute to the development of all sectors, including the economic and educational sectors, and in line with Oman Vision 2040. For this reason, we have focused on attracting the best international expertise in the field of telecommunications, which is represented in the strategic partnership with Vodafone Global”.

Diego Massidda, CEO of Vodafone Partner Markets, added, “The strategic partnership between Oman Future Telecommunications Company SAOC and Vodafone ensures that Vodafone Oman receives the right infrastructure and advanced technologies. Through partnerships and projects, especially with small and medium enterprises, the local community will also benefit from Vodafone’s global expertise.”

The shareholders of the “Oman Future Telecommunications Company SAOC” represent Omani institutions such as government pensions and investment funds, as well as private investors.
Prior to its launch, Vodafone has established several partnerships with local and international companies, including small and medium enterprises. In the Sultanate, Vodafone will also contribute to enhancing the ongoing progress of the telecommunications and technology sectors and contribute to the goals of Oman Vision 2040, asserting its belief in the need to participate in implementing it.
